George Santana has spent his entire life giving a voice to New Yorkers less empowered to speak up for themselves.

A very proud son of a single mother who immigrated from Cuba, George now works in the not-for-profit sector representing tenants at risk of losing their homes.

George earned his bachelor’s degree from the New School for Social Research and then earned his law degree from CUNY Law School. After graduating from law school, he entered the private sector for nearly nine years to support his family. George went on to re-teach himself the law and pass the NYS bar examination. He then opened his own firm where he practiced a wide variety of law, including landlord/tenant, matrimonial/family and immigration law.

As a solo practitioner and later as a court attorney, George became a Volunteer Lead Attorney at several constituent clinics, representing people Pro Bono - in complex tenant, family, and immigration cases - who needed help the most.

In 2013, George was appointed to Governor Cuomo’s newly created Tenant Protection Unit at the NYS Division of Housing & Community Renewal (DHCR), where every day he fought for the rights of tenants on behalf of our state. From 2014 to 2021, George was a court attorney in Criminal Court, Civil Court and Supreme Court. From 2021 to 2023, George returned to private practice where he practiced, not-for-profit law, landlord/tenant law, criminal defense, immigration, and matrimonial/family law. George returned to the courts in 2023 where he worked as a Court Attorney in Family Court and Civil Court until his return to the not-for-profit sector in 2025 where he practices landlord/tenant law.

Being raised by a single immigrant mother has provided George with the strong work ethic, the tolerance, and the balanced judgment it takes to interact respectfully with people from all walks of life. His profound understanding of New York City makes him ideally equipped to represent us with the values of Dignity, Honor and Fairness.

‍These are the values that have allowed George to serve so many of our communities with the keen legal sharpness, measure and knowledge they deserve, and they’re the values he’ll take to the bench as our next Bronx Civil Court Judge.

Su profundo conocimiento de la ciudad de Nueva York le convierte en la persona ideal para representarnos con los valores de la dignidad, el honor y la equidad.
